Frequently Asked Questions

Is this coaching specifically designed for leaders from marginalized backgrounds?

Yes. This coaching is intentionally designed for leaders who often navigate corporate spaces where they may be underrepresented, misunderstood, or carrying additional invisible labor. The work acknowledges systemic realities while strengthening your personal agency, clarity, and power.

How is this different from general executive coaching?

Many coaching models assume a level playing field. This approach does not.

We address the unique dynamics that leaders from marginalized communities often face including, code-switching, stereotype threat, bias, isolation, pressure to outperform, and the exhaustion of being “the only.”

This space allows you to process those realities honestly while building strategy, resilience, and executive influence.

Will I have to explain or justify my experiences?

No. One of the goals of this coaching space is reducing the burden of over-explaining. You will be met with cultural awareness, empathy, and lived understanding. The work can go deeper and move faster when you don’t have to first prove your reality.

What kinds of topics are appropriate for this space?

Anything affecting your leadership, including:

  • Navigating bias or microaggressions

  • Managing perceptions and executive presence

  • Advocacy without self-sacrifice

  • Promotion strategy and visibility

  • Burnout related to emotional labor

  • Balancing authenticity with political awareness

  • Reclaiming confidence and voice

All of it belongs here.

Is this coaching about surviving or thriving?

Thriving.

While we absolutely address survival strategies when necessary, the goal is sustainable leadership where you stand in your power, lead with clarity, and align performance with purpose. This is about expansion, not just endurance.

How do you create psychological safety?

Confidentiality, respect, and deep listening are foundational. This is a space where you can speak freely without fear of being minimized, misunderstood, or judged. You are not required to shrink, perform, or filter here.

What if I’m hesitant to ask for help?

That hesitation is understandable. Many leaders from marginalized communities are conditioned to be self-reliant and resilient without support. Choosing coaching is not weakness, it is strategic courage. Growth rarely happens in isolation.

What outcomes can I expect?

Leaders often experience:

  • Increased confidence in high-stakes settings

  • Stronger executive presence

  • Clearer promotion and advancement strategy

  • Healthier boundaries

  • Reduced burnout

  • Reconnection to purpose

  • Greater alignment between identity and leadership

How does the coaching process work?

Coaching is a structured but flexible partnership focused on your growth as a leader and as a person. Each session centers on what you’re currently navigating whether that’s a challenge, decision, or pattern you want to shift. Together, we explore what’s beneath the surface, clarify your thinking, and identify practical ways to move forward with intention. It’s about building awareness, strengthening your voice, and creating lasting change.

How often do we meet?

Most clients meet bi-weekly to allow time for reflection, application, and real-world practice between sessions. Depending on your goals and season, we can also meet weekly for more intensive support or space sessions out as needed. The rhythm is designed to support both momentum and sustainability.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is foundational to this work. This is a space where you can speak openly about your experiences, challenges, and aspirations without fear of judgment or exposure. Trust and psychological safety are essential for meaningful growth.

Do you offer a consultation before committing?

Yes. I offer a consultation to understand what you’re navigating, what you’re seeking, and whether this partnership is the right fit. Coaching is most effective when there is alignment and mutual trust, so this conversation is an important first step.

Do you work with organizations or only individuals?

I work with both individuals and organizations. For individuals, coaching is a personal investment in your leadership and growth. For organizations, I partner to support and develop leaders, particularly those from traditionally marginalized backgrounds, who are navigating complex work environments. Engagements can be tailored based on the needs of the individual or the organization.
